The Online Backlash
“They tend not to like him, yes,” said 25-year-old Casalegno about the serious online counter-reaction against Jeremiah. “I no longer check Instagram, so I really didn’t see that much hatred.” “The only thing I see is that my sister sends me the memes that are really funny,” he continued. “I think it is important to understand and realize that this is a fictional story – and it is not me either.”
Casalegno has portrayed Jeremiah since the first season of “The Summer I Turn Pretty” in June 2022. Although Conrad was Belly’s first love, she and Jeremiah began to go out at the end of the second season. The current third and last season of the show, which will end with the series finale on September 17, has previously followed Belly and Jeremiah’s relationship. However, the social media turned on Casalegno when the third season began last month – and the online hatred was so heated that Amazon made a statement on July 14 that asked the audience to stop bullying the actor.

“Cousins is our safe place. All the best, everything magical,” was the PSA. “Let us keep the conversation this summer.” However, the bullying did not stop, and the fans of the show were still on social media to bash Casalegno for things that his character did on the screen.
Co-Stars and Author Come to Defense
Casalegno’s co-star “The Summer I Turn Pretty” has now spoken to defend him and Jeremiah in the middle of the passionate fan case. “I am so grateful that they take care of it so much, but people are a little scary about it,” said Tung, 22, in an interview released on July 10. Han, who not only created the book Trilogy “The Summer I Turn Pretty”, but also serves as a co-showrunner of the series, also defended Casalegno during a chat with Elle, which was released on July 30th.
As for the last episode of the show next month, many fans hope that Belly will end with Conrad in the middle of the team Jeremiah against Team Conrad debate.
