Vince Zampella, a renowned video game developer and pioneer behind iconic franchises such as “Call of Duty,” has tragically passed away at the age of 55. According to Electronic Arts, Zampella died in a car crash on the Angeles Crest Highway in Los Angeles on Sunday. The incident occurred at approximately 12:45 p.m. near mile marker 62 in an unincorporated area close to Altadena, as reported by the California Highway Patrol.
The California Highway Patrol received an emergency services request from an Apple device via satellite, which alerted them to the crash. Upon investigation, officers found that a car had veered off the roadway and struck a concrete barrier, causing it to burst into flames. Unfortunately, the driver, identified as Zampella, was trapped inside and pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was ejected and later succumbed to their injuries at a nearby hospital.

He founded Respawn Entertainment in 2010 and previously served as the CEO of Infinity Ward, the studio behind the “Call of Duty” franchise.
