Dodgers’ World Series Victory Parade: What You Need to Know
The city of Los Angeles is gearing up to celebrate the Dodgers’ World Series win with a parade on Monday, and officials are urging fans to plan ahead to avoid traffic and congestion. Hundreds of people with hearings scheduled in several downtown Los Angeles courthouses will have their matters continued or rescheduled as the buildings will be closed due to street closures and large crowds expected for the parade.
According to city officials, downtown businesses are being encouraged to allow employees to work from home or adjust their schedules to avoid the anticipated traffic. The Los Angeles Unified School District has announced that all schools will open as usual, but parents should allow extra time to get kids to class. Mayor Karen Bass has expressed pride over the team’s win and encouraged fans to “plan ahead for the parade, be prepared and celebrate peacefully, safely and responsibly.”
Parade Route and Schedule
The parade will begin at Temple Street and Broadway, proceeding west on Temple, then south on Grand Avenue, west on 7th Street, and north on Figueroa Street, ending at 5th Street. Fans are encouraged to gather along Grand Avenue, the longest stretch of the route. After the parade, a celebration will be held at Dodger Stadium at approximately 12:15, but fans will need a ticket to attend this event.
It’s worth noting that fans won’t be able to attend both the parade and celebration due to the timing and effect of street closures on traffic. City officials are urging fans to use public transportation, with Metrolink offering extra trains on its Antelope Valley, Orange County, and San Bernardino lines. Dodger Stadium Express buses from Union Station and Harbor Gateway will start running at 8:30 a.m.
Courthouse Closures and Traffic Advisory
The following courthouses will be closed on Monday: the Stanley Mosk Courthouse, Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, Superior Court departments at the Spring Street Courthouse, and the Archives and Records Center. Restraining order cases scheduled for Monday are being transferred to the Metropolitan Courthouse, while all other proceedings at the closed courthouses will be rescheduled.
Drivers should expect some downtown freeway exits to be blocked, and cars parked along the parade route will be towed. The L.A. Police Department is on heightened alert, with officers stationed along the parade route and near Dodger Stadium.
