Dodgers’ World Series Hopes Revived with Thrilling Game 2 Victory
The Los Angeles Dodgers have tied the World Series at one game apiece, thanks to a dramatic 5-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 2. The turning point came in the seventh inning, when Will Smith and Max Muncy hit back-to-back home runs, shifting the momentum in favor of the Dodgers.
Smith’s home run, his first of the postseason, was a 404-foot blast into left field, and he celebrated by screaming into the dugout. Muncy followed with a 351-foot home run, also into left field, to give the Dodgers a 3-1 lead. The usually stoic Smith was ecstatic, and his teammates responded with equal enthusiasm.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s Masterful Performance
Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto was phenomenal, pitching a complete game and allowing just one run on four hits, with nine strikeouts and no walks. He retired the final 20 hitters, capping off an incredible performance. Yamamoto’s outing was his second consecutive complete game in the postseason, making him the first pitcher to achieve this feat in 24 years.

Looking Ahead to Game 3
The series now shifts to Dodger Stadium, where the Dodgers will face the Blue Jays in Game 3 on Monday. The Dodgers will start Tyler Glasnow, while the Blue Jays will counter with Max Scherzer. The Dodgers will also face George Springer, a key member of the Houston Astros team that cheated the Dodgers out of the 2017 World Series championship.

Scherzer, who previously played for the Dodgers, will likely face a hostile crowd, given his history with the team. The Dodgers have not forgotten his decision to sit out a crucial game in the 2021 postseason, citing injuries, and will likely express their displeasure on Monday.
