Mark Sanchez Out, Drew Brees In: Fox Sports Makes Major Analyst Shift

Fox Sports has made a significant change to its NFL analyst lineup, letting go of Mark Sanchez and hiring former quarterback Drew Brees to replace him. The move comes after Sanchez’s recent involvement in a fight outside an Indianapolis hotel, which led to a felony battery charge and three misdemeanor charges.

A Fox Sports spokesman confirmed the decision, stating, “We can confirm that Mark Sanchez is no longer with the network. There will be no further comment at this time.” Sanchez has been off the air since the incident on October 4, which occurred while he was in Indianapolis for Fox’s coverage of the Colts and Las Vegas Raiders game.

Sanchez’s brother, Nick Sanchez Jr., released a statement expressing support for his brother, saying, “It’s been a long month for Mark as he continues to recover from serious injuries while also grieving the loss of a close friend. While the recent news — and its timing — is understandably disappointing, our priority remains his continued healing and recovery.”

Drew Brees Joins Fox Sports

Drew Brees, a former NFL quarterback with a 20-year career, has joined Fox Sports as an analyst. He will team up with play-by-play announcer Adam Amin and sideline reporter Kristina Pink on the network’s No. 4 NFL crew. Brees’ first game will be on November 16.

Brees retired from the NFL in 2020 and joined NBC in 2021 as an analyst for Notre Dame college football games. He also appeared in the studio for “Football Night in America” but parted ways with NBC a couple of months later. Brees has made a studio appearance on “Fox NFL Sunday” earlier this season and is slated to be an analyst for one of Netflix’s two Christmas Day games.

Brad Zager, Fox Sports president of production & operations and executive producer, expressed excitement about Brees joining the team, saying, “Drew is one of the best to ever play the game, and we couldn’t be more excited to have his prolific credentials and unique insights as part of our coverage on Sundays.”

Mark Sanchez’s Legal Issues Continue

Sanchez’s legal issues will continue, with an Indianapolis judge scheduling his trial to begin on December 11. The trial may be subject to change, but for now, Sanchez faces a felony battery charge and three misdemeanor charges related to the fight outside the Indianapolis hotel.
