Breaking News: Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Conservative Activist Charlie Kirk
Utah Governor Spencer Cox announced on Friday that a 22-year-old suspect, Tyler Robinson, has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The suspect was taken into custody at 10 p.m. Thursday in St. George, Utah, about 280 miles south of Orem, after a family member contacted authorities.
“We got him!” Cox exclaimed at a Friday morning news conference. The governor revealed that investigators have extensive evidence linking Robinson to the shooting, including notes on the Discord chat app and markings on ammunition left with the gun that they believe was used in the shooting.
Investigation and Evidence
A roommate showed investigators messages on Discord, in which Robinson talked about retrieving a rifle from a drop point, leaving the rifle in a bush, and referring to having left the rifle wrapped in a towel, according to Cox. One of the markings on the ammunition, Cox said, read: “Hey fascist! Catch!”
Another marking read “Bella Ciao” — a reference to an Italian song that pays tribute to the anti-fascist resistance who fought occupying troops during World War II. Cox said Robinson is believed to have acted alone and they are seeking the death penalty.
President Donald Trump broke the news Friday morning in a TV interview, telling Fox & Friends that he believes “with a high degree of certainty” that authorities have apprehended a suspect. Trump praised local and state authorities for their work tracking down the suspect.

Reaction and Vigil
News that the suspect had been captured came the morning after Beau Mason, the head of Utah’s Department Public Safety, said in a TV interview Thursday night that authorities “have no idea” who the shooter is or if he is still in Utah. On Thursday evening, hundreds gathered in a park in Orem, Utah, to remember
