Guilty Verdict in Bloomington Hit-and-Run Case
A jury has found Lamont Eugene Williams Jr., a 22-year-old Apple Valley man, guilty of second-degree unintentional murder in connection with the hit-and-run killing of 21-year-old Alexif Loeza Galvan in Bloomington. The incident occurred on March 6, when Williams allegedly set up a marijuana deal with Galvan and then struck him with his SUV while speeding away with the drug.
According to the criminal complaint, Galvan died of blunt force trauma at Hennepin County Medical Center, with injuries including a brain bleed, skull fracture, broken collarbone, rib fractures, and cuts and bruising consistent with road rash. The complaint also states that Williams had exchanged messages with Galvan through Facebook about purchasing “smoke” and had sent him his home address.

Investigation and Arrest
Police were called to the 8300 block of 11th Avenue around 8:45 p.m. on the night of the incident, where they found Galvan lying in the street with broken bones and difficulty breathing. He was pronounced dead at Hennepin County Medical Center. One of Galvan’s family members reported that Galvan had told him about the planned marijuana sale with “Monty,” later identified as Williams.
Galvan’s mother stated that she saw her son leaning into the passenger side of a small, dark-colored SUV, which was later found to be a grey Jeep Renegade registered to Williams’ mother. The SUV accelerated, and Galvan was dragged and thrown to the ground. Williams was arrested the next day near his home, and a search of his vehicle found a 9mm handgun, a black Coach backpack with plastic bags of marijuana, and his phone, which showed the exchanged messages with Galvan.
