King Miller’s breakout efficiency powers USC to assertion win over No. 15 Michigan

USC’s King Miller Leads Trojans to Statement-Making Victory Over Michigan

The University of Southern California (USC) Trojans secured a resounding 31-13 win over the No. 15 Michigan Wolverines, thanks in large part to the outstanding performance of redshirt freshman King Miller. Miller, a preferred walk-on from Calabasas High, stepped up in the absence of USC’s top two running backs and delivered a game-changing, breakaway run that broke open the game and ultimately lifted the Trojans to victory.

Miller’s impressive outing, which included 148 yards on 16 carries, was a testament to his hard work and dedication. Despite being buried on the depth chart earlier in the season, Miller had always believed in his abilities and was ready to seize the opportunity when it arose. “It was all honestly just a dream come true, man,” Miller said. “I’m just honestly so grateful.”

USC coach Lincoln Riley was equally impressed with Miller’s performance, praising his toughness and work ethic. “Really just an awesome performance,” Riley said. “A gritty, tough performance. Just felt like they were not gonna come out here with anything less than a win.” The win marked a significant milestone for the Trojans, who had struggled against ranked teams under Riley’s tenure. With this victory, USC emerges with a conceivable path into the College Football Playoff conversation.

Making the Most of an Opportunity

Miller’s chance to shine came when Waymond Jordan, the Trojans’ leading rusher, left the game in the second quarter due to injury. Running backs coach Anthony Jones reassured Miller, telling him to “just do what you do.” Miller took this advice to heart, breaking through the Michigan defense for a crucial gain and later scoring a touchdown. His performance was a culmination of his efforts in practice, where he has consistently demonstrated his capabilities.

A Team Effort

The Trojans’ victory was not solely due to Miller’s efforts, as the entire team played a crucial role in securing the win. The defense held Michigan to 109 rushing yards, less than half of its usual total, while the offense ran for 86 more yards than Michigan has allowed all season, finishing with 224 yards. Quarterback Jayden Maiava had a steady performance, throwing for 265 yards and two touchdowns, despite an interception in the red zone.
