Melania Trump Launches Production Company Ahead of Documentary Release
First Lady Melania Trump has announced the launch of her own production company, Muse Films, as she prepares for the release of a documentary about her life. The documentary, titled “MELANIA,” is set to be released in theaters worldwide on January 30 and will offer “unprecedented access” to the 20 days leading up to President Trump’s second inauguration in January.
The announcement was made on X, where Melania shared a 10-second clip revealing the company’s logo: a sleek, silver, superhero-style “M” set against a black backdrop. While the role of Muse Films in the documentary is unclear, Melania is serving as an executive producer. The film is helmed by director Brett Ratner, who has been involved in controversy in the past, and is set to have a limited theatrical release before it hits Amazon Prime.
Documentary Details and Production
The documentary promises to showcase Melania’s return to the White House, including her inauguration plans, White House transition, and reentry into public life with her family. Amazon MGM Studios has reportedly paid $40 million for exclusive rights to the film, making it one of the largest known licensing deals for a political documentary to date. The agreement includes a two-to-three-episode follow-up docuseries about Melania’s life as she navigates between New York, Florida, and Washington, D.C.
The deal was reportedly made shortly after President Trump’s reelection and around the same time that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos announced a $1 million donation to Trump’s inauguration fund. Director Brett Ratner has maintained ties to several Trump administration figures and allies, including former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who was in business with Ratner on RatPac-Dune Entertainment until he sold his stake in 2017.
Controversy and Reception
The documentary has already sparked controversy due to Ratner’s involvement, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women. The film’s release has also raised questions about the role of Muse Films and the extent of Melania’s involvement in the production. Despite the controversy, the documentary is set to offer a unique glimpse into the life of the First Lady and the inner workings of the White House.
