Ramsey County Elections: A Comprehensive Guide to Mayoral, City Council, and School Board Races

As the election season approaches, voters in Ramsey County are gearing up to cast their ballots for various mayoral, city council, and school board positions. The upcoming elections will take place on Tuesday, with a range of candidates vying for seats in cities such as St. Paul, White Bear Lake, Falcon Heights, and St. Anthony. In addition to these municipal elections, several school districts, including St. Anthony-New Brighton, Mounds View, North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale, and Roseville, will be holding school board elections.

St. Paul Mayoral Election and Ballot Measures

In St. Paul, incumbent Mayor Melvin Carter is facing a challenge from Rep. Kaohly Her, Yan Chen, Mike Hilborn, and Adam Dullinger. Voters will also be deciding on two ballot measures: a levy referendum for St. Paul Public Schools, which seeks to raise $37 million annually for 10 years, and a proposal to grant the city powers to issue administrative citations for non-criminal offenses, such as violating the city’s rent control ordinance or failing to provide paid sick time.

City Council Elections in Falcon Heights, St. Anthony, and White Bear Lake

In Falcon Heights, four candidates – Jeremy Hallowanger, Georgiana May, Eric Meyer, and Jim Mogen – are vying for two at-large seats on the city council. St. Anthony voters will choose between Nadia A. Elnagdy and Jan Jenson for two seats on the city council. Meanwhile, in White Bear Lake, Mary Nicklawske and Stephen Laliberte are competing to replace outgoing Mayor Dan Louismet, while Ellen Gurrola and Kevin L. Edberg are running unopposed for Ward 2 and Ward 4 city council seats, respectively.

School Board Elections in St. Anthony-New Brighton, Mounds View, North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale, and Roseville

The St. Anthony-New Brighton school district has three open seats on the school board, with candidates Annie Bosmans, Laura Haas, and Prachi Striker vying for these positions. A special election is also being held for a seat on the board, featuring candidates Michael Overman and Daniel Turner. In the Mounds View school district, four candidates – Shauna Bock, Shea Bruce, Tascha Just, and Mark Sacay – are running for three at-large seats on the school board. The North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale district has one open at-large seat, with Justin Middaugh and Sam Rosemark competing for the position. Lastly, in the Roseville district, four candidates – Mannix Clark, Geida Cleveland, Karl Crump, and Michelle Morse-Wendt – are vying for three at-large seats on the school board.

Levy Referendums in Mahtomedi, Mounds View, Roseville, and North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale
