Tragedy in Lake Elsinore: Community Mourns the Loss of Celeste Rivas Hernandez
The modest Inland Empire community of Lake Elsinore is grappling with a mixture of heartbreak, shock, and anger as more details emerge about the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose decomposing body was found in the trunk of a Tesla belonging to multiplatinum singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.
Celeste, a resident of Lake Elsinore, was reported missing in 2024, but her whereabouts since then remain a mystery. Her body was discovered on September 8 in the vehicle at Hollywood Tow, after it was impounded from the Hollywood Hills. The Los Angeles Police Department stated that someone noticed a foul odor coming from the vehicle, leading to the gruesome discovery.
A Life Cut Short: Remembering Celeste Rivas Hernandez
According to those who knew her, Celeste was a studious, hardworking, and intelligent teenager. Resident Rubi Alonso, whose son is around the same age as Celeste, described her as “a sweet child” who was always quiet and shy. Alonso met Celeste’s family when she was in kindergarten and remained friends with them over the years.
Celeste attended Lakeland Village School in Lake Elsinore, roughly 76 miles from Los Angeles. Her family could not be reached for comment, but neighbors recalled seeing missing-person posters with her face on them, including one in February 2024, when she was first reported missing at the age of 13.
Investigation and Questions Surrounding D4vd’s Involvement
The investigation into Celeste’s death is ongoing, with authorities trying to determine when and how she died, as well as how long her body was in the trunk of the Tesla. The vehicle had a Texas license plate, and the remains were found in a bag, according to a law enforcement source. D4vd, who was initially cooperating with investigators, has since retained a lawyer, and his representatives have not responded to requests for comment.
Multiple photos of D4vd and Celeste have circulated on social media, raising questions about the nature of their relationship. A GoFundMe page has been set up for Celeste’s funeral, and her relatives have taken to social media to express their grief and frustration, stating that they did everything they could to find her before her death.
