Tom Cruise Unrecognizable in New Comedy “Digger” Teaser
It’s impossible to miss the drastic transformation of Tom Cruise in the new teaser for his upcoming comedy, “Digger.” The 63-year-old actor, known for his action-packed roles in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, looks unrecognizable with thinning and grey hair, a marked change from his typical full head of dark hair.
In the first trailer for the movie, Cruise is only shown in silhouette and from far away, with his face not revealed. However, his hair in the movie is a significant departure from his usual look, and it’s clear that he’s embracing a new character. Cruise has starred in action movies well into his sixth decade, and it’s rare to see him play characters who look or act like typical 60-something men.
A Departure from Typical Roles
Playing a man who looks visibly older is a marked departure for the “Eyes Wide Shut” actor. However, it’s not without precedent, as Cruise previously threw aside his vanity to play an overweight, balding movie mogul in the 2008 movie “Tropic Thunder.” In “Digger,” Cruise wears cowboy boots and looks disheveled, strutting around carrying a shovel, and seems to dance with it, crouching with it and walking along a fence.

The movie poster reads: “A comedy of catastrophic proportions.” Little has been revealed about the film’s plot, but director Alejandro González Iñárritu told Deadline at Cannes, “This is a wild comedy of catastrophic proportions. It’s insane. He makes me laugh every day. The range that I discovered working with Tom is unprecedented for me as a director.”
Collaboration with Acclaimed Director
González Iñárritu, who won Oscars for “The Revenant” and “Birdman,” is teaming up with Cruise for the first time. This is his first English language movie since “The Revenant” and his first movie since 2022’s “Bardo: False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths,” which was mostly in Spanish. In addition to Cruise, “Digger” will star Jesse Plemons, Riz Ahmed, “House of the Dragon” star Emma D’Arcy, and John Goodman.
“Digger” will hit theaters on October 2, 2026. For more information, visit Here
