Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott Finalize Divorce Settlement
Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott have officially put an end to their 17-year marriage, with the couple settling their divorce on Monday. According to court documents, the “Beverly Hills, 90210” star and the Canadian actor have entered into a written agreement regarding their property and marriage, although the details of the agreement, including custody and visitation arrangements, have not been disclosed.
The divorce settlement comes two years after the pair went their separate ways, with Spelling filing her petition for divorce in March 2024, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple, who share five children together, had been married since May 2006. Spelling, 52, had requested sole physical custody of the children, as well as joint legal custody and visitation rights for McDermott, 58.
Background on the Couple’s Relationship
Spelling and McDermott’s relationship had been subject to scrutiny over the years, with the couple facing numerous challenges, including infidelity and financial issues. In a podcast episode last year, Spelling spoke candidly about her decision to file for divorce, stating that she was cautious about the split taking an acrimonious turn. She also reflected on how their relationship had lasted for 18 years, despite outside skepticism early on.
McDermott had also spoken publicly about his marriage to Spelling, telling the Daily Mail in November 2023 that he had “inflicted a lot of damage and pain” on her and that he would be spending the rest of his life making amends. Despite their rocky relationship, the former spouses seem to have remained friendly, with Spelling telling People last year that they are “good friends” and that McDermott remains “one of my biggest supporters.”
Divorce Settlement Details
Although the details of the divorce settlement have not been disclosed, court documents reveal that Spelling had requested child support and spousal support, as well as reimbursement for her legal fees. The couple’s divorce has been deemed an “uncontested” matter, with both parties agreeing to the terms of the settlement.
The settlement brings an end to a long and tumultuous chapter in the couple’s lives, with both Spelling and McDermott now free to move on with their lives. As reported by the Los Angeles County Superior Court, the couple’s divorce is officially finalized, marking a new beginning for both parties.
