President Trump has thrown his full support behind a massive project to transform a holy Apache location outside of Phoenix into one of the world’s largest copper mines. He met with mining managers in the White House and had a recent decision by the court, which temporarily stopped transferring federal areas to their companies.
Trump and Interior Minister Doug Burgum met on Tuesday in the White House with several managers from Rio Tinto and BHP, the two multinational mining companies behind the planned Copper mine. As suggested, the Mine oak flat and long-standing place with rocky premises and desert waterways on the edge of the Tono National Forest-in would be around an almost 2 miles wide industrial crater in the amount of 2 miles.
Apache Tribe’s Holy Land at Stake
Oak Flat has been a state-protected country for decades. Members of the San Carlos Apache Tribe describe it as a Holy Land in which spiritual legal engines are comparable, and say that it has been used for coming-of-age and other tribal ceremonies for generations.
In 2004, prospectors found that one of the world’s largest copper incorporations that are estimated to hold enough copper to deliver up to a quarter of the US demand was 5,000 to 7,000 feet below the surface.
Court Battle and Trump’s Involvement
Trump also wrote about the project on his social side of the truth and described the three-judge panel of the US 9. Circuit Court of Appeals, which blocked the transfer of a “radical left court” and said it was “sad” that “radical left activists” could bring such a project to a standstill.
“3,800 jobs are affected and our country simply needs copper – and now!” Trump wrote.
He also wrote without evidence that those who fight the mine are “anti -American” and work on behalf of “other copper -competitive countries”.
Apache Tribe’s Response
The tribe of the San Carlos Apache, which belongs to the plaintiffs that block the mine, described the court’s decision in his ongoing struggle for the country as a “last minute victory”.
“The Apache people will never stop fighting for Chí’chil Biłdagoteel,” said Terry Rambler Terry Rambler in an explanation with the traditional Apache name for OAK Flat. “We thank the court for having stopped this terrible land exchange and allowed ourselves to argue the advantages of our pending lawsuit in court.”

Environmental and Economic Concerns
A copper spokesman for the resolution said that the company was confident that the 9th circuit “ultimately confirms” the “well-created” decision of the district court in favor of the land transmission.
“In the past 11 years, the copper project of Resolution Copper has been subjected to a strict, independent review in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act under the direction of the US forest service. This review included a comprehensive consultation with numerous American indigenous connections to this country, local communities, organizations of civil society and a dozen federal, state and state District authorities, “it said in civil society.
The spokesman said that the project has other local support and “the potential to become one of the largest copper mines in America that contributes 1 billion US dollars for the Arizona economy every year and creates thousands of local jobs in a region in which mining has played an important role for more than a century.”
