President Donald Trump to Undergo Physical Exam Amid Health Concerns

President Donald Trump is scheduled to undergo a physical exam on Friday, October 11, 2025, at Walter Reed Medical Center, following mounting questions about his health. The exam comes after noticeable bruising and swelling have been observed on the president in recent months.

According to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, the president’s visit to Walter Reed Medical Center is for a planned meeting and remarks with the troops, and he will also undergo his routine yearly check-up. However, it is worth noting that President Trump had an annual exam just six months ago, on April 11, 2025. The White House has described the visit as a regular yearly physical, but the timing has raised some eyebrows.

Health Concerns and Previous Diagnoses

President Trump has been spotted with swollen ankles and a persistent bruise on his right hand in recent months. The White House attributed the ankle swelling to chronic venous insufficiency, a condition that occurs when damaged valves inside the veins struggle to keep blood flowing from the legs back to the heart. According to the Cleveland Clinic, this disorder affects about one in 20 adults, particularly those over the age of 70.

A memo from White House physician Sean Barbabella stated that doctors found “no evidence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or arterial disease” and that “no signs of heart failure, renal impairment, or systemic illness were identified.” The bruising on President Trump’s hand was attributed to “minor soft tissue irritation from frequent hand-shaking” and a side effect of aspirin therapy, which the president takes as part of a cardiovascular prevention routine.

President Trump’s Health and Public Discourse

President Trump, who is the oldest president ever sworn into office, has boasted of being in good health, telling Newsmax in a recent interview: “I feel the same or better than I did 30 years ago.” However, his predecessor, former President Joe Biden, dropped out of the 2024 election amid questions about his acuity. President Trump has been reticent to disclose when he undergoes medical evaluations, which has led to increased scrutiny and speculation about his health.
