The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) successfully rescued a luxury cruise ship, Scenic Eclipse II, that was stuck in thick sheets of ice near Antarctica. The rescue operation took place on January 17, after the ship got trapped in the Southern Ocean, approximately eight miles from McMurdo Sound, Antarctica.
