According to the police, Doherty was arrested for disrupting traffic and possessing amphetamine and marijuana, among other charges. Doherty attempted to engage officers to “create video content,” positioning himself in the middle of the road with passing traffic. Despite multiple commands to exit the roadway, Doherty refused, even after his group urged him to comply.
Officers continued to warn Doherty that failure to comply would result in his arrest, but he persisted in refusing commands. The arrest documents reveal that Doherty told officers, “Once I’m done with this bet,” before being safely apprehended in the middle of the road. A search of his person revealed a Schedule II amphetamine and three suspected cannabis cigarettes, weighing approximately 4.0 grams combined.
