The year 2026 is shaping up to be an exciting one for movie enthusiasts, with a plethora of highly anticipated films set to hit the big screens. From new Pixar movies to adaptations of classic literature and re-imaginings of beloved franchises, there’s something for everyone. Two Pixar movies are set to be released in 2026, including the long-awaited fifth installment of the “Toy Story” franchise. The first Pixar movie, “Hoppers,” is scheduled to be released on March 6 and follows the story of a robotic beaver that gains human intelligence. The second Pixar movie, “Toy Story 5,” is set to be released on June 19 and promises to be an emotional rollercoaster for fans of the beloved franchise.

New Adaptations and Re-imaginings

Other filmmakers are putting their unique spin on classic material. Emerald Fennell is set to release her adaptation of Emily Bronte’s “Wuthering Heights” on February 13, while Maggie Gyllenhaal is working on a monster film inspired by the 1935 classic “The Bride of Frankenstein,” titled “The Bride!” and scheduled for release on March 6. Christopher Nolan’s re-imagining of the Greek epic mythology tale “The Odyssey” is also highly anticipated, with a star-studded cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, and Zendaya, and is set to be released on July 17.

Additionally, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe can look forward to “Avengers: Doomsday” on December 18, while those who love the Star Wars franchise can enjoy “The Mandalorian & Grogu” on May 22. The Devil Wears Prada 2, starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, is also set to be released on May 1.

Video Game Adaptations and Other Releases

Video game fans have a lot to look forward to in 2026, with the release of “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” on April 3, a new “Street Fighter” movie on October 16, and “Mortal Kombat 2” on May 8. Other notable releases include Steven Spielberg’s UFO-themed thriller “Disclosure Day” on June 12, and the animated basketball comedy “Goat” produced by Steph Curry on February 13.
