Matthew Stafford: The Calm and Collected Leader of the Los Angeles Rams
Whatever the circumstance — cold, snow, rain, wind, noise — Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is cool, calm and collected. This 17th-year pro has consistently demonstrated his ability to remain composed under pressure, a trait that has earned him the respect of his teammates and coaches. But what sets Stafford apart from other quarterbacks is his vocal leadership, particularly in the huddle. According to tight end Davis Allen, Stafford is “screaming” in the huddle, ensuring that his teammates are where they need to be.
Stafford’s experience playing at Lumen Field in Seattle has been impressive, with a 3-1 record since joining the Rams in 2021. When asked about his performances in Seattle, Stafford instantly recalled all of the Rams’ games, including a Thursday night victory in 2021, a walk-off touchdown pass to win in overtime in 2024, and an overtime loss this season in Week 16. “It’s always a great environment,” Stafford said, highlighting his appreciation for the electric atmosphere at Lumen Field.

Stafford’s Leadership and Performance
Stafford, 37, aims to continue his MVP-level season with a victory that would give him a shot at a second Super Bowl title. In the wild-card victory over the Carolina Panthers, Stafford engineered a game-winning touchdown drive. The following week, he led a game-winning field-goal drive in overtime to beat the Chicago Bears. Although Stafford suffered a sprained right index finger against the Panthers, he is expected to bounce back against the Seahawks.
In four games at Lumen Field, Stafford has passed for 1,454 yards and six touchdowns, with two interceptions. On Dec. 18, he completed 29 of 49 passes for 457 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-37 overtime defeat. The Rams had the ball in the fourth quarter but failed to move into field-goal range. In overtime, Stafford connected with receiver Puka Nacua for a 41-yard touchdown pass, but the Seahawks ultimately won with a two-point conversion pass.
