Oscar Nominations 2026: Warner Bros. Leads the Pack with 30 Nominations
Warner Bros. has taken the lead in the 2026 Oscar nominations, with a total of 30 nominations, thanks to strong showings from Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” and the Leonardo DiCaprio-led “One Battle After Another.” This impressive haul marks a significant milestone for the studio, which has faced a tumultuous year with a series of underperforming films.
“Sinners” made history by setting an Oscar record with 16 nominations, surpassing the previous high of 14 held by “All About Eve,” “Titanic,” and “La La Land.” “One Battle After Another” followed closely, with 13 nominations. These films have not only demonstrated the studio’s commitment to producing high-quality content but also showcased the talent and expertise of its filmmakers.
Studio Tally: Neon, Netflix, and Universal-owned Focus Features
Neon came in second in the studio tally, with 18 nominations, including nine for the Stellan Skarsgård-led “Sentimental Value” and four for the Brazilian thriller “The Secret Agent.” Netflix, meanwhile, received 16 nominations, with nine for Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein,” as the streaming giant continues its pursuit of a best picture win. Universal-owned Focus Features pulled in 13 nominations, with eight for Chloe Zhao’s “Hamnet” and four for “Bugonia,” starring Emma Stone.
A24 scored 11 nominations, mostly for the ping-pong drama “Marty Supreme,” while Apple drew six nominations, including four for the racing film “F1,” which received a nod for Best Picture. Walt Disney Co. pulled in four nominations, including two in the animated feature category for “Zootopia 2” and Disney and Pixar’s “Elio.” Sony Pictures Classics earned two nominations for the Ethan Hawke-led “Blue Moon,” and Universal Pictures landed one nomination for “Jurassic World Rebirth.”
A Year of Ups and Downs for Warner Bros.
Warner Bros.’ success comes after a year marked by challenges, including the underperformance of films like Bong Joon Ho’s sci-fi thriller “Mickey 17” and the Robert De Niro-led mob movie “The Alto Knights.” However, the studio’s fortunes began to turn around with the release of the video game hit “A Minecraft Movie,” which grossed over $958 million in worldwide box office revenue. This was followed by a string of theatrical wins, including “Sinners,” “Final Destination Bloodlines,” “F1: The Movie,” James Gunn’s “Superman,” “Weapons,” and the final installment of “The Conjuring.”
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the studio’s future, with the planned sale of its business to Netflix and a challenge from Paramount, Warner Bros. has demonstrated its resilience and commitment to producing exceptional content. The nominations haul is a testament to the leadership of Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, whose contracts were renewed in October, with Warner Bros. Discovery Chief Executive David Zaslav praising their “critical” role in the studio’s success.
