Professional Cornhole Player and Quadruple Amputee Charged with Murder in Maryland
A disturbing incident has shaken the community in Charles County, Maryland, where a professional cornhole player and quadruple amputee, Dayton James Webber, 27, has been arrested and charged with murder. According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, Webber was taken into custody in Virginia after a man, identified as Bradrick Michael Wells, 27, of Waldorf, was found shot to death in a yard in Charlotte Hall, Maryland.
The investigation began when two people flagged down police around 10:25 p.m. on Sunday, reporting that they had witnessed a deadly shooting. The witnesses, who were in the back seat of a vehicle, claimed that Webber, the driver, had allegedly shot and killed the front-seat passenger, Wells, during an argument. The witnesses refused to help Webber pull the victim out of the car and left the scene, while Webber fled with the victim still in the car.
Arrest and Charges
After obtaining an arrest warrant, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office located Webber’s car in Charlottesville, Virginia, and found him at a nearby hospital seeking treatment for a medical issue. Webber was arrested by police in Virginia and charged as a fugitive from justice. He is awaiting extradition to Maryland, where he will face charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and other related offenses.
The American Cornhole League, where Webber was a professional player, has released a statement expressing their awareness of the allegations and offering their thoughts to the family and loved ones of the victim, Bradrick Michael Wells. The league has also stated that Webber has not been an active participant since late 2024.

Dayton Webber gained recognition in 2023 when he was featured by ESPN for his remarkable story of overcoming adversity. Born a quadruple amputee after contracting a bacterial infection that led to sepsis at 10 months old, Webber’s determination and talent led him to compete in the American Cornhole League World Championships in 2021.
