Starbucks Joins the 2028 Olympics as Official Coffee Partner

LA28 has announced a major partnership with Starbucks, making the coffee giant the official coffee partner for the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics, as well as Team USA. This announcement marks a significant addition to the growing list of sponsors, with less than three years to go before the Games. As a founding-level partner, Starbucks will bring its expertise in providing high-quality coffee to the Olympic and Paralympic village, competition venues, and volunteer hubs, creating a unique experience for athletes, fans, and spectators alike.

A New Era in Olympic Sponsorships

Starbucks’ entry into the Olympic arena is a first for the company, and it represents a significant milestone in the history of Olympic sponsorships. According to Tressie Lieberman, executive vice president and global chief brand officer of Starbucks Coffee Company, “Starbucks is proud to bring connection, culture, community and incredible coffee to the world stage.” This partnership is a testament to the company’s commitment to innovation and customer experience, and it is expected to elevate the Olympic experience for all stakeholders involved.

The partnership with Starbucks is LA28’s second major founding partner announcement of the year, following the announcement of Honda’s Olympic deal in April. Longtime partners Delta and Comcast are also cornerstones of the corporate sponsorship program, which is expected to cover $2.5 billion of the Games’ estimated $7.1 billion budget. As of August, the private organizing committee had contracts for more than 70% of its total sponsorship goal, according to LA28 chairman Casey Wasserman.

A Shared Commitment to Shaping Culture and Community

LA28 has welcomed Starbucks to the family, marking the coming together of a world-class brand and a globally embraced event. As Wasserman noted, “This is our chance to co-create a Games that will resonate for generations to come, and welcoming Starbucks to the LA28 and Team USA family marks the coming together of a world-class brand and a globally embraced event, with a shared commitment to shaping culture and community.” This partnership is expected to have a lasting impact on the Olympic experience, and it is a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation.

In addition to the partnership with Starbucks, LA28 has also announced two other partnerships in September, bringing in equipment rental company Sunbelt Rentals and T-Mobile for Business. These partnerships demonstrate the growing momentum behind the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics, and they are expected to play a critical role in shaping the success of the Games.
