La Cañada High Football Team’s Undefeated Streak Continues with Dash Paper’s Exceptional Performance

La Cañada High football coach Dave Avramovich has never heard anyone address running back Dash Paper by his last name. Instead, it’s always a resounding “Dash!” – a fitting nickname for the talented athlete, whose real first name is Dashiell. Paper’s impressive performance on the field has been a significant factor in the 5-0 Spartans’ success, with his latest game being a testament to his skills.

In the team’s recent 42-13 win over Maranatha on Thursday night, Paper rushed for an impressive 189 yards and scored one touchdown. This brings his total yards gained to 689 and six touchdowns for the season. According to Coach Avramovich, “He’s awesome. He’s grown up a ton. Last year he was the backup running back. He had a bunch of touchdowns called back because of penalties. We could see the explosiveness in practices and games. He’s running tough.”

La Cañada’s Noteworthy Wins and Neighborhood Rivalries

La Cañada has secured wins over neighboring schools Crescenta Valley, La Salle, and Maranatha. If they were to play and beat St. Francis, they could claim the title of neighborhood champions. However, Coach Avramovich has expressed his reluctance to play St. Francis, citing his friendship with St. Francis coach Dean Herrington. For now, the focus remains on Dash Paper’s remarkable performance, as he continues to dash his way to touchdowns.

Meanwhile, other high school teams, such as Camarillo’s flag football team, led by basketball point guard Mya Rei Smith, have also been making waves in their respective sports. As noted by Eric Sondheimer, “One of the top flag football teams is Camarillo, led by basketball point guard Mya Rei Smith, the quarterback. Athlete. This is what happens when you get your top girl athletes out for flag football. Camarillo is 16-1.” This highlights the importance of encouraging top athletes to participate in various sports, leading to exceptional performances and impressive records.
