Meet Taylor Lee, the Junior Quarterback Revolutionizing Oxnard Pacifica’s Football Scene

At midseason, junior quarterback Taylor Lee of Oxnard Pacifica is making waves, having thrust himself into MVP consideration with an impressive 19 touchdown passes in his last three games and 26 in five games for the unbeaten Tritons (5-0). This remarkable performance has caught the attention of coaches and fans alike, with L.A. Hamilton coach Elijah Asante praising Lee as “amazing” and predicting that “someone’s going to get a real good quarterback” in the future.

A Stellar Performance Against Hamilton

On Thursday afternoon, Hamilton and Pacifica decided to play each other after both schools were given forfeit victories. Instead of taking the forfeits, they played at Hamilton, and Pacifica won 42-14 with a running clock through much of the second half. Lee completed nine of 10 passes for 215 yards and four touchdowns, showcasing his exceptional skills and ability to lead his team to victory.

Hamilton’s freshman quarterback Thaddeus Breaux also had a notable performance, completing 31 of 45 passes for 270 yards, with touchdown passes to Kristian Leslie and Jacob Riley. Leslie caught 16 passes for 125 yards, demonstrating the strong offensive capabilities of both teams. However, Lee’s ability to run Pacifica’s no-huddle, quick tempo offense was particularly impressive, allowing his team to dominate the game.

A Key to Success: Team Chemistry and Experience

Lee’s success can be attributed to his experience playing with his receivers since youth football, as well as the strong support of his offensive line, made up of seniors. “I’ve been playing with the receivers since I was 6,” Lee said, highlighting the importance of team chemistry and camaraderie. Coach Mike Moon also emphasized the team’s focus on executing their no-huddle offense effectively, stating, “We try to do it that way.”

With the Marmonte League opener against Oaks Christian next week, Pacifica will need to continue improving and building on their current momentum. Meanwhile, Hamilton (2-3) will start Western League play against Fairfax, looking to bounce back from their recent loss. The game between Hamilton and Pacifica was notable not only for the exciting gameplay but also for the sportsmanship and lack of injuries, with both coaches expressing gratitude for the opportunity to play, calling it “a blessing.”
