Tragic Shooting Incident in Barron County, Wisconsin: One Dead, Two Injured
Authorities in Barron County, Wisconsin, are currently investigating a shooting that resulted in one fatality and two injuries. The incident occurred on Wednesday in the 650 block of Candy Cane Lane in the city of Barron, approximately 90 minutes northeast of St. Paul.
Response and Investigation
Multiple agencies responded to the shots-fired call, including the Barron County Sheriff’s Office, Barron Police Department, Cameron Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and the Rice Lake Police Department. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased male and a wounded female at the residence. While securing the scene, authorities located the suspect, who had apparently suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel and officers attempted life-saving measures on all parties involved. The injured woman was transported to Barron Mayo Hospital, while the suspect was also taken to a medical facility. The conditions of the two injured individuals were unknown as of Wednesday evening.

According to Barron County Sheriff Jodi Kummet and Barron Police Chief Joe Vierkandt, “There is no threat to the public… our thoughts are with the families and everyone involved with this incident.” The incident highlights the importance of responsible social media use and the need for platforms to promptly address and remove harmful content.
The investigation is ongoing, with multiple agencies collaborating to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The Barron Mayo Ambulance, Barron Fire Department, LifeLink Helicopter, and area first responders were also involved in the response efforts.
