Tropical Storm Jerry has formed in the Atlantic, becoming the 10th named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. This development marks a significant increase in activity in the tropical Atlantic Basin as the season progresses. According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Tropical Storm Jerry has maximum sustained winds of 45 mph, officially designating it as a tropical storm.
Track and Forecast
The system, initially designated as Invest 95L, became Tropical Storm Jerry late Tuesday morning. Currently, Tropical Storm Jerry is located approximately 1,315 miles to the east-southeast of the northern Leeward Islands and is moving westward at 24 mph. The NHC predicts a decrease in forward speed and a turn to the west-northwest over the next few days, with the center of Tropical Storm Jerry expected to be near or north of the northern Leeward Islands late Thursday or Friday.

Strengthening into a Hurricane
A tropical storm is classified as a tropical cyclone with maximum sustained winds between 39 and 73 mph, which is an upgrade from a tropical depression. The NHC expects Tropical Storm Jerry to strengthen into a hurricane within the next day or two. The Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to November 30, has seen increased activity in recent weeks.
