Minnesota’s Largest IMAX Screen to Open in Dakota County

Twin Cities film enthusiasts are in for a treat as the state’s largest IMAX screen is set to open in Dakota County, offering an unparalleled cinematic experience. The new IMAX screen will be located at Emagine Lakeville, a popular theater chain with multiple locations in Minnesota. According to Melissa Boudreau, chief experience officer for Emagine, “This is our largest location in a growing community and we wanted to add the IMAX to enhance the guest experience.”

State-of-the-Art Technology and Immersive Experience

The massive IMAX screen will measure 64 feet wide and over 36 feet tall, featuring 4K laser projection, increased resolution, deeper contrast, and a patented multi-channel sound system. This cutting-edge technology will provide audiences with a fully immersive experience, making them feel like they are part of the story. The first film to be screened on this massive screen will be “Avatar: Fire and Ash” on December 19, according to a news release from the theater.

Located off Interstate 35 at 20653 Keokuk Ave., Emagine Lakeville is strategically positioned to attract visitors from the surrounding areas. As Tina Goodroad, community development director for the city, noted, “The theater is a draw not only for Lakeville but the surrounding area,” with nearby local shops and restaurants like Gary’s Supper Club, Terra Garden Center, and Porterhouse Steak and Seafood adding to its appeal.

Construction and Future Plans

Construction of the IMAX screen is expected to commence later this month, with ticket prices and showtimes to be announced soon. Potential titles that may be screened on the IMAX include “Project Hail Mary,” “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” and “The Mandalorian and Grogu.” Jon Goldstein, managing partner for Emagine, expressed his excitement, stating, “We can’t wait for audiences to experience the largest IMAX screen in Minnesota and be fully immersed in stories like never before.”

Emagine Lakeville is one of 27 theater locations operated by Emagine Entertainment, a Michigan-based company with a presence in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. The company also offers a range of entertainment options, including bowling, Krazy Darts, and axe throwing, at some of its locations. With its commitment to providing an exceptional cinematic experience, Emagine Entertainment has established itself as a trusted and authoritative brand in the entertainment industry.
