Barry Williams Reveals Chemistry with Maureen McCormick on “The Brady Bunch” Set

Sibling love took on a different meaning for Barry Williams, who played Greg Brady on the classic sitcom “The Brady Bunch.” In a recent interview, Williams admitted to having “chemistry” with his on-screen sister, Maureen McCormick, who portrayed Marcia Brady. The revelation was made on The CW’s new docuseries, “TV We Love,” where Williams and producer Lloyd Schwartz discussed the dynamics between the two actors.

Williams, 71, recalled the scene where he and McCormick, now 69, shared a moment that was a bit too intimate for a brother-sister duo. “I remember the scene, I remember the day,” Williams said. “I remember the day Lloyd discovered that there might have been a little bit too much attraction between brother and sister.” He acknowledged that McCormick’s attractiveness drew him in, making it challenging to hide their chemistry on camera.

A Behind-the-Scenes Look at “The Brady Bunch”

Lloyd Schwartz, son of the show’s creator Sherwood Schwartz, directed a 1973 episode called “Room at the Top,” where Marcia and Greg fight over who gets the attic as their own bedroom. In the episode, there’s a scene where Barry’s character enters Maureen’s room, and they share a moment that was a bit too close for comfort. Williams explained that he was “sitting a little too close, leaning in a little too far,” and that the chemistry between them was palpable.

Williams and McCormick were just 14 and 13, respectively, when they began starring on “The Brady Bunch.” They were in their late teenage years when the series ended after five seasons in 1974. Although they casually dated, their relationship never evolved into something serious. Williams has been married three times, while McCormick has been married to her husband, Michael Cummings, since 1985.

A Lasting Impact on Pop Culture

The Brady Bunch has remained a beloved part of American pop culture, with its iconic characters and catchy theme song still widely recognized today. The show’s impact on television and its enduring popularity are a testament to the talented cast and crew who brought the Brady family to life. For more on this story, visit Here
