Firefighting Efforts and Current Status

As of November 14, the fire is 5% contained, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Over 1,500 people and over 1,000 structures in the communities near the blaze are impacted by evacuation orders and warnings. The fire has grown rapidly, fueled by whipping winds, and has burned across a whopping 3,400 acres. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported.

Weather Conditions and Relief

While winds upwards of 50 mph fueled the rapid growth of the fire, a rainstorm brought some relief to firefighters and impacted residents as they battled the blaze through the night on November 13. Additionally, Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect, with snow expected in California’s higher elevations.
