Guilty Verdict in Coon Rapids Triple Murder Case
An Anoka County jury has found Demetrius Trenton Shumpert, 32, of Minneapolis, guilty of three counts of aiding and abetting first-degree murder and six other charges related to the January 2024 killings of a woman, her son, and her husband. The victims, Shannon Patricia Jungwirth, 42, Jorge Alexander Reyes-Jungwirth, 20, and Mario Alberto Trejo Estrada, 39, were shot and killed in their Coon Rapids home by Shumpert and his accomplices, who posed as UPS delivery drivers.

Conviction and Sentencing
Shumpert is scheduled to be sentenced on January 8. This verdict comes after Alonzo Pierre Mingo, 39, of Fridley, was found guilty of the same charges in August and sentenced to life in prison in September. Mingo was convicted of pulling the trigger in the killings of Jungwirth and Reyes-Jungwirth and aiding and abetting in the murder of Estrada.
Omar Malik Shumpert, 20, of Minneapolis, Demetrius Shumpert’s brother, is also indicted in the killings and is scheduled to stand trial next month. Prosecutors allege that Omar Shumpert fatally shot Estrada after he fought back against the attackers.
Investigation and Evidence
The killings were caught on video cameras inside the home, which showed Demetrius Shumpert and Mingo forcing Jungwirth to open credenza drawers while demanding money. The victims were all shot in the head, and two small children, both under the age of 5, were present in the home at the time of the killings but were not injured.
According to court records, Estrada was suspected of drug trafficking, and law enforcement was investigating him in the days leading up to the killings. A search of a Golden Valley storage unit rented by Estrada under a false name uncovered three bags of white powder, seven bags of psilocybin mushrooms, three bags of marijuana, and a bag of meth, as stated in a search warrant affidavit.
