Meghan Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle, has undergone a life-saving surgery after a blood clot cut off circulation to his foot, resulting in the amputation of his left leg below the knee. According to his son, Thomas Markle Jr., the 81-year-old’s foot turned blue and then black, prompting a rushed hospital visit in the Philippines.
A Desperate Situation
Markle Jr. described the situation as a “case of life or death,” stating that doctors told him the leg had to be removed to prevent further complications. The surgery, which lasted three hours, was performed at a hospital in Cebu, where Markle had been living since January. The decision to amputate was made after scans and an ultrasound revealed the severity of the blood clot.

A Long Road to Recovery
Markle is currently in stable condition in the intensive care unit, but his son warned that the next few days are critical. The risk of infection, including sepsis or gangrene, is high, and Markle may require additional surgeries. His doctor emphasized the importance of close monitoring to prevent any further complications.
