Prince Harry Breaks Silence on Reunion with King Charles

Prince Harry has finally spoken out about his long-awaited meeting with his estranged father, King Charles, after the two had a private tea at Clarence House in London. The meeting, which lasted 55 minutes, marked the first time the duo had spoken face-to-face in 20 months. According to reports, the Duke of Sussex arrived at his father’s residence at around 5:20 p.m. local time on Wednesday, and shortly after the meeting, he offered some insight into how his cancer-stricken father is doing.

When asked about his father’s health, Prince Harry replied, “He’s great, thank you.” The “Spare” author then attended an Invictus Horizons event at the Gherkin building in central London, where he met with supporters and community members. His arrival was delayed due to traffic caused by the ongoing subway strikes in London, and he joked about being “hammered” by the time he arrived at the event.

Background on the Royal Reunion

The meeting between Prince Harry and King Charles comes after a long period of estrangement, during which the Duke of Sussex had not spoken to his father in 20 months. The king had been diagnosed with cancer last year, and Prince Harry had expressed his desire to reconcile with his family. In July, hopes for a royal reconciliation were renewed after Harry’s press team met with the monarch’s communications secretary for a top-secret discussion in London.

The father-son duo’s meeting was a private affair, with Prince William notably absent. The king had hosted three private audiences, including one with Prince Harry, and it is understood that he had felt uncomfortable seeing his youngest son during his court case against the UK government to win back taxpayer-funded security.

Prince Harry’s Activities in London

During his time in London, Prince Harry attended several events, including the annual WellChild Awards and an appearance in Nottingham. He also visited St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle to pay tribute to his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, on the third anniversary of her death. There, he laid a wreath and flowers at the late monarch’s final resting place.
