St. Paul Siblings Charged in Fatal Shooting of 49-Year-Old Man
A man and his sister were charged this week in the fatal shooting of a 49-year-old St. Paul man, Michael D. Tucker. The incident occurred on December 4 in the Payne-Phalen neighborhood, where officers responded to a report of shots fired and found Tucker with an apparent gunshot injury to the upper torso.

Investigation and Charges
Officers rendered first aid and called for medics, but Tucker was pronounced dead before arriving at Regions Hospital. The investigation led to the charges against Mitchell and Rhodes, with bail set at $1 million each.

According to the complaint, Tucker had agreed to buy $700 worth of cocaine from Rhodes, but first, he wanted to try a sample. An argument ensued, and Tucker allegedly brandished a firearm and tried to rob Rhodes of the cocaine. The complaint alleges that Rhodes pulled her own gun and fired, while another version states that Mitchell asked Rhodes for her gun and fired once through the open passenger door.
Denial and Investigation
Rhodes told police, “I didn’t have anything to do with that man being hurt, and that’s the God’s honest truth,” per the complaint. Both Rhodes and Mitchell denied the case involved drugs. Rhodes’ attorney couldn’t immediately be reached for comment, and an attorney for Mitchell wasn’t listed in the court file.
